Hey everyone π
I hope youβre doing well since last week, and welcome to new subscribers ! First I would like to thank you for subscribing to this newsletter experiment π Sorry this edition is a bit late π
This week in Madrid
This week was a busy week with lots of new stuff at work and a great talk with a Product Manager from Evenbrite on Monday evening. I still had time to visit Madrid and discover the different neighbourhoods under a sunny weather. The photo above was took today as I spent both weekend afternoons in El Retiro park enjoying the sun and a really great book. What a great way to spend time outside πSaturday night was all about tapas! I eat some delicious tapas and already want to come back to this tapas bar. And today, I moved to a flat share in the center of Madrid where I am going to spend the next 9 weeks. So excited!
πΊ Videos of the Week
Deep Fake of David Beckham
After reading about the latest raise of funding for this company, I discovered that Synthesia is a company working on Deep fakes and doing it really well when you watch the video above. The video is so impressive but also quite scary because it opens the door to more fake news.
Deepfakes are video forgeries that make people appear to be doing or saying things they never did. - https://deep-fakes.net
Foundation by Station F
Foundation, the documentary from Station F following different entrepreneurs from Station F during their startup journey is back for a Season 2. The entrepreneurs are different from Season 1 so itβs interesting to see new victories, new challenges and the ups and downs of the startup life.
Lancer Un Projet En ParallΓ¨le De Son Job : Lβhistoire De Rodolphe Dutel | LiveMentor
I have met Rodolphe Dutel online when he was still working at Buffer, a remote company building social media tools. I joined the Remotive.io community, a community for remote workers, since its creation so itβs awesome to watch him tell the Remotive story. (Btw he also wrote a book that you can find on Amazon.fr) The video is in French.
π Reading of the Week
My Creative Type by Adobe Color
I came across this beautiful test from Adobe Color during the week and shared it with my teammates. It was interesting to see how everyone has a different Creative Type. Personally, I am a Thinker. And you?
Why Gen Z Loves Closed Captioning
Gen Z in the US are watching TV with Closed captioning and parents started to ask themselves why. Here is an article on the subject that helped me understand this new trend.
'Ugly Ducklings' On How People Treated Them When They Got Hot
We all have our ugly time at some points in our teenhood and sometimes people can be very mean about that, even harass people. In this article, Vice journalist Amelia Tait shares peopleβs experiences changing physically and having people treating them differently because of that. Thatβs so sad that the physical appearance impacts how people are treated π
π§ Soundtracks of the Week
Kanye's Sunflower (Jai Wolf x Kanye West x Swae Lee)
This one is on repeat since Monday since I just love it! The mashup is so good since each individual song is already a hit.
After Rain Comes Sun by Salad Cats
First mixtape I listened to this week, shared by Ryan Hoover. The vibe is really good and perfect to start the week πββοΈ
Worakls Orchestra live @ ChΓ’teau La Coste for Cercle
I am now a fan of Worakls after listening to this set and an important part of his discography. I canβt recommend this set enough!
Other cool tracks to listen to:
πΈ Photos of the Week
Archillect
Archillect is such a great account run by an algorithm, which is really impressive. It adapts the content based on the popularity of the previous posts. Itβs hard to describe what it is about so itβs better to just check the account. I am a big fan of movie photos and quotes that are often shared on it. What are your favorite Instagram accounts?
π₯ People Met
I have just moved to a flat-share with other international students so I am excited to spend more time with them over the next 9 weeks. There are 4 people coming from France, USA, Germany and Italy.
I also met a French girl and Colombian guy this week (almost Spanish-only discussions so good to improve my Spanish level)
I moved from my 2-week Airbnb where I spent 2 very good weeks in a welcoming family.
